how to use our products

Like any other organ in the body, the skin needs time to adjust to a new product; meaning simplicity and routine are best. Less really is more and for this reason, many of our products are created for multipurpose use.

Option One:
If you like a cleanser with traditional foamy lather, try an Unscented or Rose Geranium and Patchouli Bar Soap.
Tip: apply soap to facial cloth/flannel and massage into skin and neck in small circular motions.

Option Two:
If you like an oil cleanser, go for the Unscented Body Oil. Massage two pumps of oil over the entire face in small circular motions, including the eyes (its great for removing makeup). Wipe off excess oil with facial pad. Gently wipe skin with a warm, wet facial towel.
Pat dry.

Now this is one you can't knock until you try because chances are if you haven't tried it, you're missing an eyeopening experience. You're going to find gunk you never knew existed...

Copy of How To- Exfoliate.jpg

exfoliate

We have two options depending on your level of skin sensitivity and personal preference.
Option One: Facial Exfoliant. This little bottle of goodness gives you the ability to choose the level of exfoliation that suits you. It’s finely ground, making it perfect for those with sensitive skin. Add desired amount (we like to start with half a teaspoon) to your regular facial cleanser/oil or to a small amount of water and massage into the face and neck in small circular motions for 1 - 2 minutes. Rinse.

Option Two: Apply a 50 cent piece sized amount of Coffee Scrub to the hands. Gently massage into the face and neck for 1- 2 minutes in small circular motions. Now sit back, relax and let the mixture sit on the face for a further 2-3 minutes to allow oils to skin in, repair and regenerate. Do a hair treatment, floss your teeth – whatever works for you.
Rinse.

Follow with your regular moisturiser or a small amount of our Unscented Body Oil, which also acts primer if you intend on applying makeup.

Common Skin Issues

Face

Oily Skin

Ahhhh the oily skin debate. Those of us with oily skin all have our own tricks. The most important thing to remember is that using products that remove oil and dry the skin is something that should be avoided. This will only encourage your skin to produce more. As scary as it may seem, the best way to combat oil is with oil.

We suggest using our Unscented Body Oil as an oil cleanser or moisturiser. Massage two squirts into the face in circular motions. Remove with cotton pad. Run flannel or face cloth under hot water and then hold up to the face and steam for 10 seconds. Gently wipe of exisitng oil residue.

Additionally our Coffee Scrub can be gently used on the face twice per week as it is non-drying and will minimize clogging of the pores which can lead to breakout if your skin is on the oilier side.

Dry/Combination Skin

See Holy Grail skin routine.

Ingrown Hairs in the Beard/Neck

Exfoliation is key. Dead skin cells clog pores, creating the perfect environment for these pesky little fellas to grow. Try our Dry Facial Exfoliant as it’s a finely ground and will reach the skin between hairs. Ingrown hairs are tough, so go nuts.

Acne Scarring

In terms of minimizing the appearance of skin discoloration and improving skin texture, our Coffee Scrub is the answer. It will boost circulation and blood flow whilst also nurturing and refining the skin with natural oils. However this is not a onetime fix, regular routine is necessary to see results. See Holy Grail skin routine.

Makeup Removal

Spray desired amount (we usually start with about 2 squirts) of our Unscented Body Oil onto a cotton pad. Suitable for removing face makeup, as well as eye makeup.

Dry Skin

Dry skin can be caused by many factors – the weather, harsh soaps, itchy clothing, misusing moisturiser or even an overly long hot shower. Many commercial soap brands intentionally dry the skin, encouraging you to use a secondary product for gain back hydration. It’s a big bad world out there... To keep your skin soft and supple you need to be using the right everyday soap - our Bar Soaps will do the trick. Cold processed and made with an olive oil base, all of the oils natural moisture remains in the bar. This means they wont leave you with that tight skin feeling that bar so often do.

Eczsema & Psoriasis

Put simply, both of these skin conditions are the result of chronic irritation, however conventional steroid creams that doctors often proscribe include ingredients that whilst at first can soothe the rash, can often lead to further irritation down the track. Hence why using a product that is chemical free, deeply moisturizing and free of nasties is your best bet for beating the conditions long term. We suggest taking this approach towards your entire skincare routine in order to best combat irritation. Substitute heavily scented shower soaps for our Unscented Bar Soap. Made of nothing but natural oils and shea butter, it is deeply moisturizing whilst still creating a rich creamy lather. Then follow with our Lavender & Tangerine Body Oil for another hit of moisture as well as the calming and healing effects of natural Lavender.

Stretchmarks / Growing Tummies & Pregnancy

Let’s be real, a growing tummy is a natural process and there is no need to ‘fix’ the effects of pregnancy. But for when you feel you’re skin needs a bit of love, you want something that’a good for both you and your little person. Our Lavender and Tangerine Body Oil ticks both of those boxes. Massage as much as you desire, however often you like over the stomach and breasts. Perfect for deep moisturisation, combatting stretch marks or simply soothing a tired mind.

Ingrown Hairs

Decongest and buff the skin with Mandarin, Lime & Ylang Ylang Body Scrub. Can be used all over the body, from legs to bikini line.

Cellulite

Firstly, we all have this. So it isn't so much a skin 'issue'. However if you wish to reduce the appearance of cellulite, stimulate blood flow and circulation in the chosen area with our Coffee Scrub. Whilst it can temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite, it wont eliminate it.

Workers Hands/Feet

Swap your regular hand soap for our Tradie Bar Soap. Ground Walnut shell, pumice and coffee will give your hands and feet the tough love they need.

Hair Frizz and Health

Just another thing to add to the long list of uses of our Unscented Body Oil. Work a small amount into the ends of your hair or to the odd flyaway to keep your mop in check. If it’s a beard you’re trying to tame, our Beard Oil will soften the hair follicle and surrounding skin as well as making your face smell pretty damn delicious.

candles

There are three elements to your candle, the wick, the wax and the vessel.
Here's a few tips and tricks to get the most out of your candle.

The Wick
Wicks should be no longer than 5mm. Trim before every use and avoid burning continuously for over 4 hours. This is to avoid what we like to call the 'mushroom head' effect - when the end of the wick changes to be round  and charcoal like once cool.

The Wax
When burning, always burn long enough that the max melts across the whole diameter of the candle, i.e. the wax is melted all the way to the edge of the glass casing. This is to make sure that as the candle burns, no wax is left on the vessel as it burns down.

The Vessel
Every few burns we like to wipe the inner sides of the glass vessel with paper towel to remove any wax residue to keep it looking schmick.
